Robin Glassman’s Legacy

Robin’s Story

Robin Glassman (1959-2021) was a deeply creative and prolific mixed-media artist whose watercolor paintings; pen and ink sketchbook drawings; and installation pieces from found objects and recycled materials expressed a spirit of playful delight and of profound meaning.  A survivor of Hodgkins Lymphoma as a young teenager, Glassman struggled with significant physical challenges throughout her life, yet was able to sustain her humanity, curiosity, humor, and generosity toward others.

Robin believed passionately in the power of art to heal and to build community and connect people to one another.  The Robin Mindy Glassman Memorial Fund has been established at The Creative Center of University Settlement by Robin’s husband, John Berman, in memory of a teacher and friend whose life and art will continue to live on for the people who knew her.

Robin lived and worked in Brooklyn where she became a regular participant in the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC), Park Slope Windsor Terrace Artists, and the New York Artists Circle. More recently she also resided in one of the most picturesque parts of the Hudson River Valley which provided solace and creative inspiration for her..

This website looks into Robin's life through her writing, painting, installations, and masterful drawings.
